The Cabiney Secretary for Water &Sanitation and Irrigation Alice Muthoni Wahome yesterday led a powerful delegation from her ministry in Inspecting various water and sanitation ptojects in three counties.
Wahome started her tour in Marsabit, then visited Tharaka Nithi before concluding her visit in Nyeri County.
He was accompanied by the Water Secretary Eng. Samwel A. O. Alima, Tana’s CEO Eng. Philip Gichuki, and local leadership who included Members of Parliament.
Before beginning on the inspection exercise of the Marsabit Water Supply project executed in collaboration with the Northern Water Works Development Agency, the CS and entourage made a courtesy call to the County Commissioner of Marsabit County.
Yesterday’s occasion saw the CS and other top officials tour the Marsabit Water Supply Project and the Bakuli 4 dam, which is 20 meters high and has a reservoir capacity of 300 million liters.
The delegation then went on to inspect the Treatment Plant’s construction.
When finished, the project will provide water to 37,000 residents in Marsabit County.
The CS then proceeded to inspect the Chogoria Water Supply Project in Tharaka Nithi County, which includes intake works at Maara Manyi River, 15 Million Liters treatment works, and a water supply network. The project is 100% complete and will provide 155,317 people in the county with clean, safe water.
The CS completed her tour by visiting the Othaya Sewerage Project – Last Mile Connectivity, where she was joined by TWWDA chairman Eng. David Muthoga, the local MP Wambugu Wainaina, Rahab Mukami, Women Rep, Nyeri County, and other government officials.
The team went to Othaya Girls High School, which is currently benefiting from the project, as well as the wastewater treatment ponds and the Kanyange line.
Once completed, the project will provide wastewater treatment services to a target population of 15,000 people in the area.
