Kenyans are surprised that Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, has parental linkages in Katheri of Abothuguchi in Meru County. This is not an issue generated to defend the impeachment motion, but those in the know Gachagua has Ameru blood.
Now this will surprise you more; one Freedom fighter Marshall Dedan Kimathi had parental linkage in the same Abothuguchi West either Katheri, Githongo or Kithirune. It is said that Dedan Kimathi parents or grandparents had migrated to West of Mt. Kenya due to natural calamities or due invasion of hostile communities:the Durobu “Nturubu” from Meru. It is also said Kimathi loved to plan and execute his Mau Mau activities in the east of the mountain as to compared to the west.
Kimathi is not a Kikuyu name but Ameru name… It said there is no other person in Kikuyu land by name Kimathi like in Meru where they’re in thousands.
Ameru and Agikuyu do not share names despite their language being understandable to each other.
Marshall Dedan Kimathi is Ameru too from Abothuguchi West, Imenti Central.

Been wondering about that for years. Why carry a Meru name if he was Kikuyu? Didn’t make sense at all.
