Democratic Party of Kenya (DP) Director of Elections, Daniel Kimanyo (DK) Munene is dead.
The party official succumbed to illness on Saturday evening at Coptic Hospital along Ngong road, Nairobi while undergoing treatment.

Apart from being a staunch DP founder and financier, DK Munene was a leading businessman who operated various enterprises such as Bucon Furniture, Soiree Gardens, Bavaria Gardens and Hillside Grill & Restaurant.
A message sent to his friends indicated that he left a hospital bill of nearly KSh2 million which family and friends will be meeting at All Saints Cathedral Church, Nairobi from today to organise on how to settle as well as raise more for the funeral expenses.
“The family will further communicate regarding the funeral service and burial arrangements at a later date. We appreciate any financial support. The same can be channelled to Pay Bill No. 247 247. A/C No: 583364,” the message from the family read in part.
The DP fraternity mourned DK Munene, terming him as a leading force in the party which he remained a member since its inception.

Led by Secretary General Dr Jacob Haji, the party noted that the late DK Munene was instrumental in keeping the party alive for more than three decades.
In 2000, the late DK Munene alongside other youthful leaders affiliated to DP formed Demo-2000, a lobby group that vigorously campaigned for then Othaya MP, the late Mwai Kibaki to be third President.
The late DK Munene is widely remembered for donating a fully equipped LandRover to President Mwai Kibaki’s campaign team in 2002 which the late Kibaki used to address public meetings that eventually propelled him to land in the highest political office in the country.
DK Munene hailed from Karigu-ini area, Wamagana ward in Tetu constituency.
