Slightly more than A dozen Principal Secretaries have been conferred with the First Class: Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear (CBS)” award by the President of Kenya, Dr William Ruto, in this year’s Jamhuri Day Awards and Honors. In the list of the distinguished Principal Secretaries seen by The Mount Kenya Times Principal Secretaries Susan Mangeni (MSE Development), Geoffrey Kaituko (Shipping and Maritime Affairs, Kello Harsama (ASALs and Regional Development), Eng. John Tanui (ICT), Joel Arumonyang (Public Works), Dr, Ng’eno Festus (Environment and Climate Chenge), Amos Gathecha (Public Service), Shadrack Mwadime (Labor & Skills Development), Prof. Julius Bitok (Immigration), PS Gitonga Mugambi (Forestry), Dr. Esther Thaara Muoria (TVET), Dr. Beatrice Inyangala (Higher

Education), Betsy Njagi (Blue Economy) Mohamed Liban (Petroleum) Patrick Kilemi (Cooperatives) among others.
Conferment of the awards is a normal occurrence during national celebrations and is meant to honour Kenyans for the efforts they make to serve their country and others in various capacities. The Order of the Burning Spear award is presented to public dignitaries, professionals and exemplary members of the public service. It is divided into three categories based on seniority which are; Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear (CBS), Elder of the Order of the Burning Spear (EBS) and Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear (MBS).

Other honours conferred by the Head of State included the Order of the Grand Warrior (OGW), Moran of the Order of the Golden Heart (MGH) and Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart (EGH), among others.
