Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is in Angola for the Organisation of African Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) regional summit.
The Deputy President arrived in the western Africa country yesterday and is today expected to deliver a keynote address on behalf of President William Ruto.
After the address, he will also handover the Summit’s Presidency to host President João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço following the expiry of Kenya’s two-year term which started in December 2019.

Deputy President arrived in Luanda, Angola, at Quarto de Fevereiro International Airport and was received by Kenya’s Ambassador and Head of Mission Clement Nzomo Kiteme. Also present was Ambassador Dr. Bitange Ndemo of Brussels and top Angola Government officials.
He is acompanied by among others, his wife Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, Members of Parliament Patrick Munene (Chuka, Igamba Ng’ombe) Martha Wangari (Gilgil) and Erick Muchangi Karemba (Runyenjes).
“I will be participating in the 10th Summit of the Organisation of African Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) on behalf ofPresident William Samoei Ruto and I will deliver the key note address tomorrow (today) morning,” the DP said on arrival in Luanda City.
He added that he would be holding a bilateral discussions with President Lourenço, OACPS Secretary General, Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Jamaica and Barbados, Kenyans in Angola, among others.
“Besides cementing the relationship with Kenya, the bilateral meetings are aimed at placing Kenya at a vantage point in attracting foreign direct investments in various sectors in line with the Kenya Kwanza Manifesto,” he observed.
On his way to Angola, he made a stopover in Bujumbura, Burundi early yesterday where he held discussions with Dieudonné Dukundane, Minister for Infrastructure, Equipment and Social Housing of the Republic of Burundi.
“We discussed mutual bilateral and regional matters,” he noted before departing Bujumbura where he was hosted by
Ambassador Daniel Wambura, the Kenyan Ambassador to the Republic of Burundi.
