Businessman and Nyeri County gubernatorial candidate Dr Thuo Mathenge yesterday commissioned a water project in Mukurwe-ini constituency.
The project which is an initiative of philanthropist Dedan Githaiga is expected to alleviate water scarcity around Ititu primary school in Rugi ward.
Mr Githaiga who is aspiring member of parliament in Mukurweini constituency on The New Democrats (TND) ticket said water resource has been a major hindrance in area’s development.
The local community applauded Githaiga for his kid gesture and promised to support his bid to be the next law maker.
The event was also witnessed by among others Anthony Mutuura together with 5 others MCAs candidates from the ward.
On his part, Dr Mathenge who toured and addressed several other meetings in the constituency promised to initiative various projects that will uplift their standards of living.
Among them is the establishment of a ceramic products manufacturing factory so as to utilise the special soil found in some parts of the constituency.
He also said his administration will ensure that coffee and dairy farmers will leap maximum benefits from their farming.
Further, Dr Mathenge disclosed that once elected as the governor he will roll out free feeding programs to all nursery and primary schools in entire county.
