Road accidents have been rampant in Kenya. Our roads have claimed many lives compared to other causes of death as per statistics.
The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) raised alarm over the rising number of road accidents in the country. According to NTSA, pedestrians lead in the fatality rate followed by motorcyclists in 2022.
Some of the many causes of these road accidents include over speeding, overloading, mechanical issues among others. Even though NTSA and other responsible authorities have tried their best in reducing these accidents, it is not yet fully tackled. We citizens as the regular road users need to adhere to the road safety rules and regulations.
Bodies like KeNHA and KeRRA have put many measures in place like Putting up guard rails along the roads, speed bumps etc. I call upon all road users to watch out so as to help reduce these road accidents.
