Yesterday I touched black and red wires
And the black screen whitened
I saw it stare back a while
Before a guy in mid forties
With pressed tie
And smooth smile showed up
His mouth was moving, so he’s talking!
He kept on saying things
As news updates flashed by
Right just beneath him.
His eyes fixed in mine
No blinking no looking at the laptop
He kept on talking and talking
And alas! I saw on the remote controller
A volume plus, and volume minus
So I pressed slightly on volume plus
And soon sounds appeared to
Come from the plastic box.
I called my brother to come and see
This wonder, he came by sluggishly
In awe I thought he would be excited
But like a bull after losing a battle
He kept on cursing, head heading down
I wondered what made this fuss
And in one motion, he pointed
On the screen, see, see the large sea
Taking over the land! They have
Added five shillings on oil products
Five shillings! But see, see the man
shaved well, still smiling, see!
