In his approach to work the auditor is skeptical. It entails questioning mind and a critical assessment of audit evidence. He doubts that the financial reports presented to him show a true and fair financial position.
Through an audit report the businesses are able to know whether the existing controls are adequate if so then are they strictly followed if not why. External lenders and company shareholders are assured that their wealth is safe through unqualified audit report. The management is able to obtain an independent opinion on areas that the business is doing well and where there is need for improvement.
All what is contained in the audit report is valuable and aimed at improving the business. His doubtful approach helps him to scrutinize any evidence that may suggest a malpractice in the business to ascertain that it is either material or immaterial.
A visit to a psychologist or guider and counselor while facing relationship issues he will ask you about possible red flags if there is any then he will use them to evaluate how tense your relationship is. The red flags and related issues are signs of unhealthiness in your relationships. It is a skeptical approach that unearths faults on both your side and that of your colleague then basis opinion on it regarding which areas you need to improve.
If you allow those critical of you to air their opinions you will be able to easily identify loopholes and then work towards sealing them. It is through continuous improvement that we can perfect our products.
