Thousands of descendants of former freedom fighters are this weekend meeting in their respective county headquarters for a special forum, which is expected to form the basis of parents’ long-awaited compensation.
The descendants under the auspices of Mau Mau Children and Post Colonial Elites are expected to debate and pass resolutions in regards to Public Benefit Organization act No. 18 of 2013.
According to the group chairman James Njuguna Mahuria who was nominated and anointed a few days ago, the formed freedom fighters descendants are expected to go through the act and pass resolutions that will form basis of their compensation demands.
The resolutions will be presented to the Parliament on Tuesday next week, Mahuria disclosed.
He noted that his team had mobilised its members, drawn from all the counties to attend the forums in their respective counties.
Mahuria noted that the weekend meeting was a culmination of many years of their pursuit of compensation by their parents as well grandparents who endured humiliating conditions that eventually led to the country’s independence from the Briton Colonial masters.
Once they present their resolutions through a petition, Mahuria noted, they will be opening a window for the eventual compensation.
