Former Mayor Wanyaga Gathaka meets his political rival Maina Mathenge over Nyeri Town seat

Businessman and former mayor of the defunct Nyeri Municipality Wanyaga Gathaka yesterday held a consultative meeting over the upcoming polls with Nyeri Town constituency UDA parliamentary candidate Duncan Maina Mathenge.
The two political archrivals agreed to work together for the benefit of the deputy president led party which is seeking to get majority of political seats which are up for grabs during the August 9th election.
During the meeting at Senior Chief Wambugu Palace near Nyeri town, the duo agreed to do all what it takes to woo voters in the area to support Mathenge secure the seat.
The UDA candidate has promised a raft of measures touching on various key sectors that he says he will take headon in his bid to uplift the living standards of the locals.
These includes collaborative leadership where he intends to involve all stakeholders in decision making, Youth agenda, Education, Health, Legislative agenda as well as Job and Wealth creation.
Gathaka promised to support Mathenge emerge victorious and further ensure his agenda for the constituents was delivered after he gets the seat.
Gathaka who is also the chairman of Kenya Kwanza Nyeri chapter lobby group said apart from Mathenge’s seat, they are working out to ensure that UDA presidential candidate garners over 90 per cent of voters in the whole county.
During the UDA nominations last April, Gathaka was the runners up in an exercise which he said was marred with irregularities.
Apart from the incumbent Wambugu Ngunjiri who is defending the seat on Jubilee ticket, Mathenge will face it with among others, former Presidential Delivery Unit (PDU) director Patrick Ngatia who is running as an Independent candidate and Washington Ndegea who is running under The New Democrats (TND) party.
