MP Wambugu Wainaina briefing journalists after touring Muna-ini Primary School yesterday.

Muna-ini Primary School, which served as the Polling Station for the late President Mwai Kibaki is set for a major rehabilitation.
Through the initiative of the current Othaya constituency Member of Parliament Wambugu Wainaina alias MountKenya, the school is currently undergoing a major transformation.
Yesterday, the MP visited the school, situated near Othaya town, where he assessed the ongoing refurbishment works.
The MP who was accompanied by the local National Government, Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) team led by the chairman Gachihi Ngugi and the school’s Headteacher Ms Cecilia Maina said KSh9 million would be used in the rehabilitation works.
The MP said the local NG-CDF had allocated KSh4 million while the national government had set aside KSh5 million.
“The NG-CDF has allocated four million shillings while due to the respect that President William Ruto has for the former president, he gave us five million shillings for the project,” the MP revealed during the tour.
He said the rehabilitation works that involves tiling, painting, erecting a perimeter fence and landscaping among others works is expected to be completed before the schools open for the third term in around two weeks’ time.
He said they were also planning to put cabros from the school’s gate to ensure it was fully tidy and pupils will always be smart.
Wainaina said by refurbishing the school, they would be honouring the late President for the work he did for the country after being elected several times, all of which, from 1974, he cast his vote at the school.
At the same time, the MP said similar rehabilitation programs have been ongoing in other institutions in the constituency.
“I have dedicated my time to ensure that public resources are well utilised. I want to make sure that schools are well refurbished so as to give learners a conducive environment for studying,” he said.
