Principal Secretary for gender Madam Ann Wangombe has once again demonstrated her unwavering commitment to empowering vulnerable groups, particularly women, through thoughtful and tangible support. In a heartwarming visit to Nyeri County, PS Wangombe distributed blankets and mattresses to widows, as part of a follow-up initiative stemming from the International Women’s Day celebrations.

This program targets marginalized and often overlooked women, is rooted in the Ministry’s broader mission to ensure that no woman is left behind in the pursuit of dignity, comfort and social equity. PS Wangombe emphasized that the gesture was more than a donation — it was a reaffirmation of the government’s dedication to the well-being of widows, many of whom face economic hardship and emotional isolation.

“These women have endured great personal loss, yet continue to uphold their families and communities with quiet strength. It is our duty to ensure they are not forgotten,” PS Wangombe said.

The initiative aligns with the Ministry’s strategic objective of strengthening social protection for vulnerable women while reinforcing the values of compassion and inclusion. The Principal Secretary also used the occasion to engage with local women leaders, exchanging ideas on how to further uplift grassroots communities through targeted government interventions.

The widows who received the support expressed profound gratitude, noting that such acts of kindness go a long way in easing their daily struggles and restoring a sense of dignity.

As she continues to steer gender affairs with grace and resolve, PS Ann Wangombe has carved out a reputation as a leader who not only champions policy but also rolls up her sleeves to reach the people directly. Her actions in Nyeri are a powerful testament to her hands-on leadership and enduring commitment to the women of Kenya.
