Governor Kimemia meets Water and Sanitation development partners

Nyandarua County Governor Francis Kimemia yesterday represented the Council of Governors in a consultative forum with development partners in water and sanitation.
Kimemia who is the chairman of Water, Forestry and Natural Resources at the Council of Governors, briefed the delegation on how the joint effort between county governments and development partners has seen tremendous improvement in the water sector.
He said counties should reap from the natural resources within their boundaries noting that his administration was still fighting to see Nyandarua residents get water from key reservoirs that feed Nairobi and Nakuru.
The delegation was led by Mr. Christopher Mutasa of the African Development Bank and Rose Makenzie from the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
During the meeting held at the CoG offices in Nairobi, the Council of Governors and the Dutch delegation agreed on the key priority areas of engagement that include governance and water sector coordination, water sector financing, sustainable water for all and water resource management.
The meeting also resolved to develop a joint priority paper on water and sanitation issues to be presented in the next proposed convention held on 30th June 2022.
There was further a proposal to have a meet between the development partners and CoG and provide a knowledge and sharing platform for all the project and programmes funded by donors in the Counties on water and sanitation.
