Nakuru County Governor Lee Kinyanjui yesterday visited Bahati sub-county where he met Mary Waithera, who has over time won medals in the 1,500m paralympics international competitions.
Waithera who hails from Kwa Amos, Kabatini in the area is a living evidence that disability is not an inability.
The governor presented her training gear as we distributed youth empowerment items to the youth and self-help groups from Kabatini.
The youths benefitted from 37 sports kits, 10 goalkeeper kits, 70 football balls, 9 karate kits, and seven skating uniforms.
The local government also distributed a public address system, five 100-seater tents with 416 plastic seats, 109 water tanks, 227 boda boda umbrellas and 219 boda boda riders’ gear.
“I was glad to hear our development programs continue to have a positive impact on the lives of people. Our projects in Kabatini include equipping and staffing of Muriondo Dispensary, drilling, installing of solar panels and water tanks at Amos, Jonathan, Kabatini boreholes,” the governor disclosed.
During the ceremony, youth and self-help groups also benefitted from incubators and chicks while
Wendo Polytechnic benefitted from equipping an administration block and workshop, thus ensuring the enrolment of more young people.
Kinyanjui observed that his administration will soon equip the maternity at Kabazi Hospital .
“I am seeking another term of 5 years to continue with the life-transforming projects in this county, ” he noted as he sought the support of the local during the August 9th General Election.
