Philanthropist and New KCC Director Maina Kamiru at the weekend hosted dozens of leaders from various parts of the country during the Memorial service of his father.
Led by Nyeri Governor Mwalimu Mutahi Kahiga, the leaders paid a glowing tribute to the late Charles Kamiru Maina for bringing up disciplined, dedicated and hardworking children who are now serving the country in different capacities.
Three Catholic Church priests; Fr. Paul Kimani, Fr. Eliud Kamwaro and Fr. Musa Gishare presided over the unveiling and dedication of a memorial cross of the Kameru at Kambora home, Kiamuiru area near in Gatitu. The deceased died in 2016 at the age of 69.
Other leaders present included East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) member Kanini Kega, Eric Mwangi Wamumbi (Mathira), Betty Maina (Murang’a Woman Rep) and Nyeri County Assembly Speaker Gichuhi Mwangi as well several Members of the County Assembly of Nyeri who were hosted by nominated MCA Janet Kameru who is a daughter to the deceased.
Dozens Business community members led by Nairobi based Githinji Kinyanjui alias Cocorico and Nyeri based former Nyeri Wanyaga Gathaka also attended the ceremony.
After the ceremony, hundreds of local people were treated to a sumptuous meal.
The leaders thanked the New KCC director and her family for their continued support to the community.
