Worth Noting:
- Don’t allow your problems to break your spirit. You are a strong person. You are a champion. A winner. A legend. You have been winning since the beginning. Do you know how many sperms wanted to beat you? 1.2 billions were fighting for that egg. You are the one who won. If you can beat 1.2 billion people, what can beat you? You have been a winner ever since you were created.
- Everything I am today I have struggled for it. Nothing which I got I was given on a silver platter. My childhood was a childhood full of struggles. At a young age, I would go with my mother to work on people’s plantations to earn something so that we could eat.
‘Babe, am sorry really that your mom does not like this decision but I really have to go to study abroad,’ a devastated Solomon said to me. The truth is, my mom liked Solomon more than she even liked me. Solomon was more than just a son to her. She took Solomon as hers. At the airport we were left stunned. Waving at a departing airplane on the runway like like kids. Nobody was speaking to the other. We were all sad.
Have you ever said goodbye to someone you love? Goodbyes heart more than heartbreaks. Especially if you will not be together for a long time. It is a pandemic. An epidemic. A disease.
I could not take mom back home in Ol’ Kalou because I had some clients who I would not miss to attend to.Β I had to book for her a cub to take her home. It’s important to understand that there is time for business and time for family. It’s important that family comes before business but if the family depends on the business then the business should come before family. Most of the time relatives always complain that we do not have time for them yet they also need financial help from us. My mom went home unhappy, I had promised to take her for a ride. She expected the ride as soon as we left Jomo Kenyatta International Airport but I had some important business to take care of.
See, money is homeless. Since the world was created, no money has left here. But why is it that you are always broke? Why is it that you lack money yet no money has left? Why is it that the rich are becoming richer and poor being poorer. It’s because you’ve never thought about sheltering money. Money is homeless, it just needs shelter. It is hovering around your house now. All it needs is somewhere to shelter. Why don’t you provide the shelter? Is it because you are busy chasing it? Stop the chase, start the shelter. Poverty is a result. Success is a mindset. Money is homeless.
My businesses were growing so fast. One client was bringing another client. My salon was growing to be a big brand. The gym was incredibly increasing in population. I had over 200 employees fully employed paid every month. I had converted the business name to be a limited company now.
Progress. The problem with most of us is that we don’t trust the process. You try a business today, it fails then you give up or try something else. No! That’s not what success is. Success is not a destination, it’s the process. Nobody started a multibillion dollar company overnight, nobody got an A in KCSE overnight, nobody was born and started talking or walking, don’t give up. Success needs perseverance, dedication and commitment. Don’t give up on your dreams my sister. Don’t loose hope my brother. Don’t relinquish my parent; your best days are yet to come. It will not be easy. Some days you will feel like questioning God why he has forsaken you, at times you’ll feel like you are not important in this life, at times you will feel like the whole world is against you. It’s normal. Every successful person has been there. The rejection, the mocking, the mugging, the hate, the negative talks, all this should catalyse your desire to achieve greatness. Don’t give up because of one defeat. Without defeats you cannot learn, and if you cannot learn you can grow, and if you cannot grow you cannot become your best, and if you cannot become your best you can not be happy, and if you cannot be happy then what is left of you?
Just start. I started my business due to the problems I was going through in campus. I was washing clothes for other students in campus. I always failed to pay my rent of 1500 per month to the landlord of the wooden single room where I was staying on time. My room was locked by the landlord on several occasions. Whenever I would try to beg him and explain to him about my situation he would never listen to me. I would go to sleep in the lecture halls.
My situation was very bad at that time. I would borrow money from friends but nobody would help me. My mother would try to borrow money from neighbours but nobody would give. It was just me and my mother. I would continue sleeping on the floor of the lecture hall till my mom raises 1500 shillings from sukumawiki sales. It had been three days without taking shower or changing clothes. I remember one day when I asked my classmate to host me just for one night so that I could at least take a shower after three days. She told me, ‘No.
My boyfriend is coming to visit me tomorrow so I want him to find my room in order.’ Last week, the son of the landlord who was locking up my door in campus applied for the position of Sales Person in my company. The girl who refused to host me at her place for one night only is always texting me asking for favours. I, the stinking dog, the one who slept in a classroom, is now running my business empire. We serve a living God. Whatever you are going through right now doesn’t define you. You are defined by your future. A future of hope, success, leading, greatness and achievements, breakthroughs and breaking the odds.
Start. I started with my fears. You can also start with your fears. Start with rejection. Start with brokenness. Start without money. Start without rich uncles. Start without a degree. Start with your certificate. Start without capital. Start without clients. Start as an orphan. Start as a single mother. Start with poverty. Start with heartbreaks. Start! Just start. Start from where you are, use what you have, do what you can. You can do alot with your life. You are not miserable; the misery should should prepare you for greatness. You have greatness within you. Manifest it.
Don’t allow your problems to break your spirit.
Everything I am today I have struggled for it. Nothing which I got I was given on a silver platter. My childhood was a childhood full of struggles. At a young age, I would go with my mother to work on people’s plantations to earn something so that we could eat.
When I was in high school my money struggled to pay my school fees through distributing sukumawiki, in campus my room had nothing except bed, mattress, few clothes and some cooking materials. I used to eat once in a day. I would get 150 for washing someone’s clothes that was enough for lunch and remaining amount I would buy soap for my own use at my place.
I would squeeze toothpaste until I cut the toothpaste tube into pieces using a knife so that I get to utilise all the paste. I was struggling. I was suffering. Life knocked me down. Life gave me punches. I was broke. The little money I was earning from washing clothes would not stay in my hands for more than one hour. I had more needs than the money I had. I had lost weight since joined campus. I was starving. There was a hunger strike in my life. No boy would approach me. I was beautiful yes but I was emaciated. I was looking like a dead man walking. I could not afford to buy the makeups that other university girls were using. Because I did not have mosquito net in my wooden apartment, mosquitos had turned my brown face to have dark spots.
I refused to define myself based on the deficiencies, lack, wants, needs and circumstances. I defined myself by abundance, plenty and prosperity. You are a winner. You are the master of your fate, you are the captain of your soul and auditor of your lifestyle.
Stop complaining about your situation. Stop crying about what you’re going through. Stop crying mama. You have the whole future with you. Yes, you made mistakes. Yes, you got teenage pregnancy. Yes, you are looking for job and cannot find it. Yes, you are suffering. Yes, you have your degree but unemployed. Yes, you are struggling. Yes, you are 27 but still staying with your parents despite having your degree. Yes you’ve started your business but it is not doing well. Do not loose hope. He knows you. He knows your name. He made you. He did not create you to suffer.
He knows the plans he has for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm. To give you a hope and a future.
Days turned weeks, weeks turned months. It had been two months now I β¦β¦β¦.
