Leaders seeking to be the next governor for Kirinyaga County had a heated debate where each candidate had the opportunity to articulate their manifesto.
During the programme, dubbed Kìrìrìmbi, facilitated by Royal Media Services through Inooro TV, six candidates of the eight cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) showed up at Nice Digital City in Mwea constituency.
The incumbent Ann Waiguru who is defending her seat on UDA ticket and the current Women Representative Wangui Ngirichi who is running as an Independent candidate did not attend.
Those who attended included Senator Charles Kibiru who is running on Jubilee party ticket, former area governor Joseph Ndathi who is trying to recapture the seat on The Service Party (TPS), former Mwea MP Peter Gitau, Kariuki Ireri of ANC, Comba Ndau of Kadu Asili and Mureithi Kagai of Narc Kenya.
Just like in other counties where such programme is organized, each candidate present was given an opportunity to spell out their manifesto to the audience present and those watching through the station.
Senator Kibiru seemed to have carried the day for ably stating his manifesto and promising to transform the county to be like Singapore.
Senator Kibiru said he had consulted experts and had done visibility studies on several areas which will make his vision of making the county like Singapore realized.
He said he will see to it that investors will flock the county in his bid to among other things create employment opportunities for hundreds of jobless local people.

Among such projects, Ndathi said was an ICT hub in Sagana area which he said stalled after he left office yet it was meant to assist young people in the county.
He said he would reveal more during unveiling of his manifesto later this week.
