If I could have shoes
I could wear with pride
And walk high
One step and the next
Till I reach my classroom.
If I could have shoes
I could sit with the rich
And not feel ashamed
I could wear socks
Whether same colors or not.
If I could have shoes
I could speak good english
And swahili too
For shoes goes with ties
And ties with tongues.
If I could have shoes
I could start living my dreams
And building a home
I could start a company
And employ many people.
If i could have shoes
I could roll my sleeves,
And plant green veges
I could plant trees
And seeds of hope.
If I could have shoes
I could walk to the altar barefoot
For it is a holy ground
So that the shoes I have
I shall leave them on streets.
