Not the poor, not beggars,
Not the slave and not the losers,
Who assume control and power—
No one beneath their feet, not any lower,
But the mighty, the one who holds power.
The rich becomes the innocent, not the offender,
Yet he is guilty and knows it better.
Then the wrong he smears on the beggar,
And thus, the poor man is the wrongdoer.
I see how money assumes control and power.
Who then will stand for the offender?
My guess is—the same accuser,
He buys freedom for liberation of the beggar.
The poor man turns to be a worshiper
Of the man who is his oppressor.
The rich man commands him to be his gardener,
To tend his garden a year for half a sliver.
Feeding on scraps–a poor soul with no helper.
