When you aspire to do what’s right,
But you find yourself in a losing fight,
When no one understands your plight,
And only you
Believe your future will be bright.
When you keep on dreaming,
But all dreams end with screaming,
When you can’t quite quit the quiet habit,
That still clings forcing to co-habit,
When your ideas appear null and void,
Making you seem irrational and paranoid,
When everything you do is faulty,
In the eyes of those highly haughty,
When you tell, telltale and tell it all,
But on deaf ears your words fall,
Then you shut up and keep a distance,
As they test your level of perseverance,
When you are dead emotionally,
Nothing stirs you totally,
When the talking tone is too harsh,
Block your ears so they won’t smash,
When you have to endure rejection,
From whence you seek sole solace,
When you always feel out of place,
Lacking the courage to show your face,
When you can’t trust even yourself,
Because honesty has morphed into a vice,
When you lose your treasured possession,
Watching as it crumbles into sublimation,
When love loses its intended meaning,
To leave the broken hearts weaning,
When unhappy but you still smile,
Even as pressure continues to pile,
When you think suicide is an option,
But your lips can’t take that concoction,
When you swallow in all your sorrow,
Living in the hope of a better tomorrow,
When
This and that happens
Then
My frail soul dampens.
