- Jimmy Kibaki, who is the Deputy Party leader of The New Democrats (TND) which is headed by Nyeri county gubernatorial aspirant Dr Thuo Mathenge noted that he enjoys cordial relationships with President Uhuru Kenyatta who is his long-term buddy adding that his loyalty to him is unquestionable.
- He, however, declined to state who he backs for the presidency saying the person he will vote for is his personal affair.
Jimmy Kibaki, the son of former president, the late Mwai Kibaki has disassociated himself with a Twitter Handle accounts bearing his name and associating him with Kenya Kwanza Alliance political grouping that is headed by Deputy President Dr William Ruto.
In a statement, Jimmy said he has nothing to do with contents of the accounts saying he had severally reported The matter to Twitter Inc but so far no action has been taken.
Of late, whoever controls that account that bears the name and image of the former president’s son has been posting photos and information purporting to suggest that he is firmly in that political alliance and presidential aspirant of choice is the current Deputy President.
The Twitter accounts bear the name “Jimmy Kibaki HSC” and “Jimmy Kibaki” with Twitter Handle, “#jimmy_kibakii”.
A section of Kenyans have been sharing the tweets widely misleading Kenyans that he has joined the DP’s camp.
Jimmy Kibaki confirmed to The Mt Kenya Times that he is not a member of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance and was not supporting its presidential flag bearer.

“Any right-thinking Kenyan who understands the 62-year relationship between the Kenyatta and Kibaki families will know that my loyalty to President Uhuru Kenyatta is sacrosanct, and our 50-year-old friendship endures,” he said.
“As to who I will vote for in the upcoming presidential election in August…as the voting is by secret ballot, my vote is, as it is for my fellow citizens, my secret.”
The TND political party is on record saying that they don’t have a preferred presidential candidate and has been asking its supporters to make individual choices on who they should support.
Dr Mathenge has reiterated that his party will only engage the winning president in a post election coalition agreement.
Two months ago, Jimmy Kibaki indicated that he would be seeking to be the third Senator for Nyeri County.
His plans were slowed down following the demise of his father last month.
However, he is expected to make his new political move later in the month as the official campaigning period kicks off.
