WHY IGNORE HIV/AIDS PRECAUTION MEASURES

By: Hazel Elizabeth

HIV is a virus that causes AIDS.  It is acquired through various ways such as sexual intercourse, sharing body piercing tools, blood transfusion and even mother to child.  In order to stop the spread of HIV there are some measures put in place.

These measures may comprise abstinence , testing blood for transfusion, preventing mother to child spread, avoiding sharing body piercing tools  just but to mention a few. Despite the government together with health stakeholders putting in place the measures to prevent the spread of HIV, a high percentage of the population in the country particularly the youths still fail to put the measures into practice.

This is denoted when a high number of youths are reported to have contracted AIDS within various regions in the country for instance the reports show that in Narok County there are many cases of AIDS victims and mostly young adults.

To sum up i call on Kenyans especially my fellow youths to make attempts to put the HIV /AIDS   precautionary measures into practice so as to avoid the rapid spread of this prevalent virus.
