Parents and pupils flocked at Nyang’iti primary in Bonchari constituency, Kisii to celebrate the results of the most improved school in Nyanza region with a mean score of 232 from 170 Which was recorded last year.
While releasing 2021 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE)Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha said Nyang’iti primary was the most improved school in Nyanza region.
Parents and teachers gathered in the school compound to celebrate the good results achieved by the candidates with the first student scoring 356 marks while the last pupil scored 129,a total regested candidates of 54.
The school head teacher Gabby Kadweya said the mean scored was achieved due to collaboration from stakeholders including teachers parents, pupils,the ministry of education and the entire community.
“For this year’s examination, we had a target of 240, we landed at 232 which has made us proud as a school,” said the head teacher.
William Gisore the deputy head teacher Who got a transfer to this school early last year said they have already set a target of 270 for 2022 examination due December this year.

The parents applauded the ministry of education for the support from the government and individuals contributing to the mean scores.
The Tusome program from USAID courtesy of the youth initiative who gave moral support to the candidates, the county government provided them water tanks and this saved candidates from traveling for kilometres to search for water and dedicating that time to class work.
“We also thank high court advocate Cliff Ombeta for getting in touch with the school, he gave our children required stationaries while sitting for the exams,” said a parent.
He noted the Ombeta foundation promised to help in constructing two classes and they are optimistic he will fulfill the promise.
Challenges
The school has among the worst classrooms in the whole county and parents claim the classrooms were condemned by the Construction Authority of Kenya last month.
Parents and teachers said the old, classrooms are the major factor of Poor performance in this school and they called for well-wishers, leaders and the ministry of education to help the construct new classrooms.
“We have a population of 800 pupils excluding those in CBC, with our poor classrooms it’s very difficult to accommodate the learners,” said the school head teacher.
