Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO) has organized a major Agribusiness show this Friday in Nyeri County.
The Nyeri Fodder and Feeds Agribusiness Show will take place at Kieni Dairy Products grounds, at Kanyagia area, along Nyeri-Nyahururu road.
Dozens of other firms and organisations have partnered to ensure that farmers reap maximum benefit from the field day.
These include Animal Feeds Production Association Nyeri branch, Highbridge, Noo Wanguku Foundation, Sunculture, Equity Bank, Family Bank, Taifa Sacco, Bayer chemicals, Truvets among others.
Yesterday, KALRO chairman Dr Thuo Mathenge confirmed that he will be gracing the event saying his organization had organized several initiatives for the region farmers.
Dr Mathenge disclosed that farmers will have an opportunity to see improved cattle, sheep, goats and poultry breeds.
“Farmers will be given sample planting seeds and materials on Kalro recent discoveries for the region,” he said, adding, “I am also urging the farmers to attend the show as our staff will also be carrying out soil tests for free. All one need to do is come with their farm soil samples.”
The Nyeri event is one of the many forums that Kalro has been organising across the country in its bid to empower and sensitize farmers in various subsectors.
In the remaining days for this month, Kalro has lined up several training for coffee, tea, livestock, horticulture as well as food crops farmers in their centres based in various parts of the country.
Others are planned to be for the coming months also.
Yesterday, Dr Mathenge said his mission was to see that farmers in all sectors reaped maximum benefits from their farming activities.
