The Kenya University Students Organization (KUSO) has a new leadership.
The powerful Students’ lobby group will now be headed by Saruni Jesse as its president.
Saruni, a Law student at University of Nairobi is a former president MKU Law Campus.
He was unanimously elected to lead the organisation after a meeting at Kivi, Mlimani Resort in Nairobi where various universities student leaders had met.
Students leaders who didn’t make it to the meeting venue joined their colleagues through online and took part in deliberations as well as election of the new officials.
The meeting was convened under the backdrop of mushrooming Students lobby groups which has seen Kuso loose its clout.
During the meeting, it was noted that Kuso had been reduced to a briefcase outfit by some former students leaders led by one Anthony Mayara who those present accused of clinging on the leadership for over eight years and doing nothing for the welfare of the students.
Those who will be working with Saruni in revamping the organisation include Cooperative University student leader, Collins Brandon who is the new Secretary General, Kenya Methodist University’s
Steve Munene as Deputy Secretary General, Mombasa Campus Mt Kenya University Students leader Raudha Mohamed as the Vice Chairman and Judy Oyoo of Kiriri Women University as the Treasurer.
The New team was mandated to ensure that Kuso is taken back to its students, review its constitution and safeguard it’s from being personalised by selfish leaders.
Upon being sworn as the organisation President, Saruni vowed to diligently work for the welfare of all students across country.
