Kenya’s Finest Officers Compete in 13th National Police Service Cross Country Championship

Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration, Kipchumba Murkomen, officially flagged off the 13th Edition of the National Police Service Cross-Country Championship at Ngong Racecourse . The event brought together police officers from across the country including Central, Nyanza, Rift Valley, Eastern, Coast and Nairobi among others to compete in various races, showcasing both athletic prowess and team spirit.
During the flagging off, CS Murkomen highlighted the crucial role that disciplined forces play in shaping Kenya’s athletic landscape.
“The contribution of the disciplined forces to our roster of top athletic talent is significant. Besides, the competitions promote teamwork, solidarity, and boost mental health, which is vital for our officers who serve in demanding roles.” He Stated.
Also in attendance, were National Police Service Commission Chairman Eliud Kinuthia, Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Eliud Lagat, and other senior officials, who lauded the event’s contribution to fostering unity and fitness within the police force.
The day’s main events included the men’s and women’s 10km races, where exceptional performances were witnessed. Daniel Simiu emerged victorious in the men’s 10km race, while Sheila Chelangat from Central clinched the top spot in the women’s 10km competition.
The National Police Service Cross-Country Championship, now in its 13th year, remains a key event in promoting athleticism and wellness within the country’s law enforcement community.
