Kenyatta Leads Leaders In Renewed Calls for Probe into Cyrus Jirongo’s Death

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta led national and regional leaders in the final send-off of former Cabinet Minister and Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo at Lumakanda Township Primary School in Kakamega County, where calls intensified for a transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

Addressing thousands of mourners, the leaders said investigators must conduct a thorough, open and credible probe, clearly explaining both the process and findings to address doubts that have triggered national concern.

They described Jirongo as a close ally to many leaders as well as ordinary Kenyans, noting that it was only right for leaders to demand clear answers on the former legislator’s death.

They urged detectives to act swiftly and transparently to uncover the truth, end speculation and give peace to Jirongo’s family, colleagues and supporters. They said Jirongo’s passing highlighted the urgent need for unity within the Luhya community, a cause the late politician consistently championed during his long political career.

Jirongo died recently in a road accident at Karai area near Naivasha,  along Naitobi-Naivasha highway.

Other leaders present included Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula, CS Wycliffe Oparanya as well as opposition leaders Eugene Wamalwa, Martha Karua, governors, MPs and MCAs.
