Kimbimbi Hospital Receive Consignment Of Drugs As Number Of Patients From Neighbouring Counties Rise

Kimbimbi Hospital in Kirinyaga County has received the third consignment of medicine and other medical supplies to ensure the facility has adequate supplies around the clock.
While receiving the medication, Kimbimbi Sub-County Hospital Manager James Ndegwa said the latest supply will ensure steady supply for the next three months.
“We have received two lorries full of drugs. On Monday, we will receive another consignment meant for dispensaries in the sub-county. The supplies are adequate to serve us for the next three months,” said Ndegwa.
The manager said the hospital is operating optimally and has had no shortage of drugs in the recent past despite influx of patients from neighbouring counties.
Ndegwa said that due to the high quality of services, the facility has been receiving patients from as far as Murang’a, Embu and Mbeere areas.
“We have dedicated medics who are serving the people diligently and that is why this facility is able to treat at least 300 patients per day,” Ndegwa added.
The county government is using the new health management system in public hospitals to address issue of drug shortage by providing real- time information on stock out.
The Health Management Information System (HMIS) has helped improve decision-making on drug supplies in all medical facilities in the county.
With the system now in place, Governor Anne Waiguru has assured residents of adequate drug supply.
Waiguru said her administration has supplied all the medical facilities with enough drugs and “no one should be told to buy drugs outside the facility.”
