Kenya Urban Roads Authority presses ahead with road works in Wajir County aimed at improving connectivity and unlocking economic potential in the arid region.

Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) is upgrading roads in Hadado Town to bitumen standards in a project expected to accelerate socio-economic development in Wajir County, with Director General Eng. Silas Kinoti credited with driving the initiative forward.
The ongoing works are set to improve connectivity within the town and its surrounding areas, reducing travel time and transport costs while enhancing access to markets, schools, healthcare facilities and other essential services.
The project is also expected to stimulate local trade, attract investment and create employment opportunities, reinforcing KURA’s commitment to delivering urban infrastructure that supports inclusive economic growth across the country.
Residents and local leaders have welcomed the works, saying the upgrade will unlock Hadado’s economic potential and improve living standards for the community.
The Hadado road project forms part of KURA’s broader programme to modernise urban road networks in Kenya’s arid and semi-arid areas, in line with the government’s agenda to deliver equitable infrastructure development across all regions.
