Co-operative Bank of Kenya has continued to support bright and need pupils to join secondary schools of their choice.
The bank which is headed by Dr Gideon Muriuki has through its various branch managers been giving out scholarship documents to County leaders for onward delivery to deserving pupils in their areas of jurisdiction.
Under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), the bank has been able to support over 8412 bright and needy students in their secondary education.
Yesterday, the financial institution’s Nanyuki branch manager Ms Jane Gikara handed Laikipia County Governor Joshua Irungu, scholarship opportunities for needy students who did their KCPE last year.
The Governor appreciated the generosity of the bank and assured them that the beneficiaries will be selected in accordance to the bank’s guidelines.
Governor Irungu who was accompanied by among others, his deputy Reuben Kamuri also called upon more corporates to invest in the education of children and youth from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Others who witnessed the brief ceremony were Koinange Wahome, County Secretary, Stephen Kisorio, Ag CECM Education and other senior county officials.
