Mau Mau Governing Council Secretary General Wambugu Githaiga

The Mau Mau Governing Council has called on all peace-loving Kenyans to unequivocally condemn any actions or intentions that could incite violence and destruction in the Mount Kenya region and across the country. Led by its Secretary General Wambugu Githaiga the Council underscored the importance of unity and proactive measures in addressing rising challenges that threaten national cohesion and stability.
The Council expressed deep concern over the recent revelations by a former Attorney General regarding the alarming issue of abductions. Describing these disclosures as both “sober and credible,” the Council emphasized the need for a joint, multisectoral approach to combat the growing menace.
“This is a matter that requires collective effort and strategic profiling,” the statement read. “It is time we found a lasting solution, one devoid of scapegoating or blanket condemnation.”
The Council urged stakeholders across government, civil society, and community levels to collaborate in tackling the root causes of this problem, emphasizing that divisive rhetoric and finger-pointing will only exacerbate the crisis.
The statement also addressed recent security threats to the Chief Justice and the judiciary, raising alarm over the potential consequences of such acts. It cautioned against individuals and groups exploiting tribal divisions, warning that these actions could pave the way for the emergence of destabilizing forces akin to Haiti’s terror gangs.
“The judiciary is the cornerstone of our democracy, and threats against it are threats against the rule of law,” the Council stated. It called on authorities to prioritize the security of the judiciary and to take decisive action against any elements seeking to undermine its independence.
Drawing from the rich legacy of the Mau Mau freedom fighters, the Council reminded Kenyans of the sacrifices made during the fight for independence. It urged citizens to emulate the spirit of resilience and unity that defined the struggle for liberation.
“The bloody sacrifices made by our forefathers should inspire us to steer this country to greater heights,” the statement declared. “United we stand, divided we fall.”
As Kenya continues to navigate complex social and political challenges, the Mau Mau Governing Council’s call for vigilance, collaboration, and unity is both timely and essential. By honoring the sacrifices of the past, the nation can forge a future rooted in peace, justice, and progress.
Let this clarion call resonate across every corner of the country: Kenya’s strength lies in its unity, and the responsibility to protect it rests with each one of us.
