Mr. Wambugu Githaiga in blue suit
By: John Kariuki
As the debate on the legality of the Supreme Court verdict that okeyed same sex unions’ rages on, Mau Mau Governing Council has come out to openly condemn and castigate the apex court’s ruling.
Mr. Wambugu Githaiga is the secretary general of the Mau Mau Governing Council and he says:
“As elders and in deed remnants of our freedom fighters we want to condemn in totality any efforts to recognise and legalise same sex marriages. This is because such a move goes against our cultural norms as well as Christian Teaching. We therefore distance ourselves from such,” Mr Wambugu Githaiga noted.
He at the same time called upon the Government of Dr William Ruto to take charge and avoid such pronouncements coming from the third arm of his government.
“If the international donors are pushing us to toe the line so that we can receive foreign aid, we would rather stay without it,” Mr Githaiga said when he led a group of Mau Mau remnants in condemnation of thee act
Already the Government through the Attorney General has challenged the Supreme Court ruling.
