Othaya constituency Member of Parliament Wambugu Wainaina alias Kìrìma on Friday hit put at a section of people from Nyeri County for bankrolling goons to cause havoc in his area.
Wainaina claimed that he had information that plans to send goons in Othaya were made in a hotel owned by a former parastatal chairman.
He said an individual aspiring to replace him as Othaya MP was in the planning meeting and the same person coordinated the attacks from a hotel at Giakanja township in Tetu constituency.
The same person, he added, was among individuals behind inciting Othaya residents over water tarrifs, an issue that saw part of the commodity provider’s offices torched early this year.
Further, he noted, the same person had joined the bandwagon of condemning the incident.
He said the goons were transported from other areas with instructions to cause mayhem in the always quiet constituency as he wondered why no shops or property were destroyed in the neighbouring Mukurweini and Tetu constituencies.
In a press briefing at his residence near Othaya town, the lawmaker called on the government to reign on individuals behind the mayhem that saw some government vehicles burnt, property looted and one of the residents, a young man shot dead.
On the shooting, he said the youth was not part of the goons but unfortunate person who was passing near the local police station when the goons were confronting the security officers whose eventual was shooting with a bullet hitting him.
Wainaina said he would assist the family in burial preparations.
He called on IPOA to speedily investigate the incident and bring justice to the deceased and his family.
