The County Government of Nakuru has partnered with the Amref Health Africa in Kenya under a project funded by the Africa Centre for Disease Surveillance, Ministry of Health and the County’s Department of Health services to complement the County’s efforts in the COVID-19 vaccination program.
The collaboration has so far enhanced the uptake of COVID-19 vaccines in the county over the past 2 weeks.
Amref Health Africa in Kenya has supported the county to strengthen COVID-19 community engagements and and vaccination campaigns to the lowest unit, households.
County Chief Nursing Officer Ms. Virginia Njenga urged members of the Public to get vaccinated to help curb the rising effects of the pandemic.
Over 560 personel have been trained under this program to enable this vaccination program run better and efficiently. The trained personal include vaccinators, data clerks and Community Health Volunteers to work as teams per vaccination station.
County Chief Nursing Officer, Ms. Virginia Njenga said that the COVID-19 vaccination program has helped reduce infections rates and cases as compared to other high-risk regions.
Mr Duncan Ager, a Community Health Systems Strengthening Specialist at Amref Health Africa said the partnership will continue to support the county is capacity building and in other identified gaps.
