An international university is coming soon to Molo Sub-County, Nakuru County.
The Catholic Church run Loyola University is set to change the face of Molo area as it will spur development.
Last week, Nakuru County Governor Lee Kinyanjui met a delegation spearheading the construction of the university on a 75-acre piece of land, led by Rev.Dr Kizito Kiyimba.
The university has over 250 learning institutions across the world with 20 in the United States.
The new Molo University will not only serve the country but also the larger East Africa region.
“My administration will support the university even as Molo distinguishes itself as a hub for international learning institutions, including St. Andrews Turi.
The community will also benefit from jobs during construction and after completion, as the university and students will need commodities,” the governor said after meeting the delegation.
He added, “we are happy that the church plays a key role in running the university. It is critical for professionalism to be accompanied by ethics and this can be inculcated in learners at a young age, “.
This is in line with the Loyola University’s goal to mould men and women who will transform society by instilling academic excellence, inclusivity and care for the person.
It aims to mould job creators and not job seekers.
Programs to be offered include data science, business studies with a focus on entrepreneurship, education science and engineering.
The first phase of the construction will be completed by December 2023 but short courses will be offered by the end of this year.
