Priority areas discussed included support for social health insurance implementation, training and upskilling of Kenyan doctors, and expanding rehabilitation services to enhance patient recovery and quality of life. By leveraging global expertise and innovations from Japan and India, the partnership is set to complement Kenya’s ongoing health sector reforms and further position the country as a regional leader in accessible, equitable, and high-quality healthcare delivery.

On the sidelines of the 113th ILO conference, PS Shadrack Mwadime and Kenyan delegation on Wednesday evening attended a sumptuous reception hosted by German Federal Minister for Labour and Social Affairs, Ms. Bàrbel Bas, at the German Mission, in Geneva. Kenya and German enjoys close bilateral relations, cemented further last year following the signing of a comprehensive labour mobility agreement between the two countries.
The agreement formally signed in Berlin September last year, is a significant milestone that opens doors for unskilled and skilled workers looking for opportunities in German. The PS described the agreement as a win-win situation, saying it was a great step towards strengthening the two countries bilateral relations.

Speaking on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Douglas Kanja, at the Eastern Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organisation (EAPCCO) gender manual validation meeting at the Trademark Hotel, Nairobi, Ms. Rosemary Kuraru, emphasized the urgent need to institutionalize gender equality within law enforcement across Eastern Africa, where women continue to encounter systemic barriers in policing and security leadership. The EAPCCO gender manual validation meeting gathered stakeholders involved in the Empowering Every Badge Initiative, which aims to engage participants through collaborative efforts and capacity-building activities to promote gender equality in law enforcement. Kanja noted that achieving gender equality demands not only reforming existing practices but also reimagining the entire approach to law enforcement. The Inspector General further extended his heartfelt appreciation to the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany, UNODC, UN Women, and EAPCCO for their invaluable support of the Empowering Every Badge Initiative.
