In accordance with the Ministry of Environment recommendations on the immediate removal of asbestos from buildings, Nyeri Town MP, Duncan Maina, has embarked on a drive to rid local primary schools in his Constituency of the health hazardous material. The first beneficiary of this initiative was Kwanderi Primary where the legislator issued iron sheets worth Sh 5.4 million to replace the dilapidated roof. Speaking at the school grounds where he handed over the project to the school management, the MP said the project is aimed at enhancing the institution’s standard of education by providing modern equipment and facilities courtesy of the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) for Nyeri town.
Counties remain resolute in their resolve to actualize meaningful development at the mwananchi level. This was put across at a consultative meeting yesterday chaired by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki to actualize IBEC resolutions between the Council of Governors and National government. Key issues, including timely disbursement of additional allocation to ensure completion of the County Headquarters as well as the County Aggregation and Industrial Parks (CAIPS) were discussed.

Police officers in Kilifi have apprehended a driver, working with the local County Government’s health department, and recovered stolen medical supplies valued at Sh.100,000. The arrest followed reports from members of the public about the illegal sale of public health facility drugs in a private pharmacy. County Executive Committee Member for Health, Peter Mwarogo, confirmed that the medical supplies were intended for the Bamba health centre in Ganze Constituency but were diverted to the private pharmacy.
