African Development Bank Group recently conducted a successful supervision mission for projects under the jurisdiction of Tana Water Works Development Agency and  Northern Water Works Development Agency.

The mission started with a detailed briefing on the progress of projects under the Kenya Towns Sustainable Water Supply and Sanitation Program (KTSWSSP). This provided valuable insights into the strides made, highlighting significant advancements in various projects, enhancing clean water, and improving sanitation services across various towns.

The mission was concluded yesterday with a thorough inspection of the Mandera Water Supply and Sewerage Project. The team’s on-ground assessment aimed to monitor the progress and ensure the projects were on track to meet their objectives.

The Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology Enterprises (JKUATES) has conducted a three-day training workshop on mushrooms in Juja, to empower farmers with the knowledge and resources needed to venture into mushroom farming successfully.

The workshop, the first ever conducted in Juja, aimed to educate farmers on various aspects of mushroom farming, including production, value addition, marketing, and utilisation of mushroom products.

The initiative is part of JKUATES’s broader objective to strengthen community livelihoods through improved food security, nutrition, and health resilience.

The workshop provided valuable information and practical insights into mushroom cultivation techniques, the economic benefits of mushroom farming, and the potential for mushrooms to contribute to a healthier diet and sustainable income.

The long-term impact of the initiative is expected to catalyse a positive transformation in the agricultural landscape of Juja, promoting self-sufficiency and resilience.

In commemoration of the Day of the African Child, 2024 whose theme is ‘Education for all children in Africa: the time is now’, the Office of Directorate of Prosecution’s Children division carried out a sensitization at the Kamiti Youth Corrective Training Centre (YCTC).

The team took stock of the pending cases and addressed issues raised. They sensitized the children on the ODPP mandate, Diversion, plea bargaining and the importance of education.

The team was joined by the ODPP clinicians who engaged the boys on peer pressure and drug abuse. The team donated essential items to the children.

A Resident Magistrate Court in Narok convicted and sentenced Simon Githaiga Kimani to a fine of Ksh50,000,000 in default serve 10 years of imprisonment for trafficking in narcotic drugs, contrary to Section 4(a)(II) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Control Act No. 4 of 2022.

The prosecution, led by Ms. Peninnah Mwaniki presented facts and documentary exhibits after the suspect pleaded guilty.

After careful consideration of the evidence, the Bett Ngayo found the prosecution’s evidence credible, substantial, and consistent, thereby eliminating any reasonable doubt regarding the accused person’s culpability.

This court verdict serves as a clear warning that perpetrators of such heinous crimes will be held legally liable.
