Agriculture is key in driving Kenya’s economic and social growth by enhancing food and nutrition security, job creation, wealth generation, and foreign exchange earnings. CS Sen Mutahi Kagwe alongside PS, Dr. Kipronoh Ronoh Paul, and PS Jonathan Mueke, engaged with the Departmental Committee on Agriculture and Livestock, chaired by Dr. John Mutunga, during the 2025 Budget Policy Statement at Parliament Buildings, Nairobi. The CS presented the aspirations of the 70% of Kenyans whose livelihoods depend on agriculture, reaffirming the government’s commitment to making the sector the cornerstone of Kenya’s economic transformation. He was also accompanied by senior ministry officials and sector stakeholders, all committed to securing a robust, well-funded, and resilient agricultural sector that will drive Kenya’s prosperity.

The Cabinet Secretary Water, Sanitation and Irrigation Eng. Eric Mugaa together with the PS State Department for Water and Sanitation Julius Korir and the Director; Transboundary Waters Ms Gladys Wekesa, attended a session of the Etra-Ordinary Nile Council of Ministers in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia Celebrating twenty-six years of the Nile Basin Initiative. The 10 Nile Basin States in ascending order are Burundi, DR Congo,Egypt ,Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Sudan, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda. The riparian countries were celebrating 26 years since NBI creation in 1999. The council emphasised on the fact that the Nile Water resources are key and central to the socio-economic livelihoods of the people of the Nile basin countries. However, the rapid growth of pupulation growth coupled with regular climate extremities has rendered the Nile Basin a water-scarce region. This has created a need for proper management of the shared water resources to reduce conflict among various water uses within the Nile Basin region.
Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, Mary Muthoni, officiated a medical camp at ACK St. Paul’s Church in Kutus, aimed at providing essential healthcare services to clergy members and their families. This initiative reinforced the Ministry of Health’s commitment to Universal Health Coverage (UHC) by ensuring spiritual leaders and their loved ones receive the medical care they deserve. The camp offered a wide range of services, including general health screenings, eye check-ups, nutritional counseling, and free medication. Beyond addressing immediate health needs, the initiative highlighted the importance of preventive care and routine check-ups in building a healthier society.
Speaking at the event the PS underscored the vital role of healthcare in supporting those who serve the nation spiritually.
In continued efforts to combat the sale and consumption of illicit brew and substance abuse, authorities in Murang’a South Subcounty have conducted a mass destruction of illicit brews, brewing apparatus, and bhang that had been used as court exhibits. The operation saw the destruction of 2,600 liters of illicit brew, 1,500 kilograms of bhang, and three brewing drums.The operation was led by the Assistant County Commissioner, Kimorori division Patrick Kibira,the Sub County Police Commander Charity Karimi, the National Government Administration Officers team and members of the judiciary.
