Kenya’s Governor, Simba Arati, has endorsed 2,841 Community Health Promoters (CHPs) to provide health services closer to households. He distributed kits with items like mobile phones to improve the scope and quality of CHPs’ services. Arati emphasized that investing in the community yields economic and societal benefits, making CHPs a sustainable way to achieve Universal Health Coverage at a minimum cost. The county has 100% community coverage, with 2,940 CHPs supporting 294 community units. Arati praised the National Government for procuring the kits and mobile phones, which will facilitate the digital community health information system and enhance the capacity of CHPs to collect, collate, and report community health data in real-time.
Government is distributing 15.3 million Long-lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLINs) in 22 high-burden counties to reduce malaria cases. The Ministry of Health, with support from the Global Fund and the U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative, aims to cover 91% of registered households. The campaign will begin with data validation, county and sub-county sensitization, and training of healthcare workers.

Kisumu County Government has partnered with Safaricom to launch the Integrated County Revenue Management System (ICRMS), a cashless platform for residents to access and pay for county services. The system aims to enhance accessibility, transparency, and boost the county’s Own Source Resource collection regime. It is available on Safaricom App, Mobile App, and WhatsApp, and features real-time verification of transactions and payments.
