Leaders in Narok County have praised President William Ruto for nominating former Cabinet Secretary in Charge of Environment, Forestry and Climate Change Ms. Soipan Tuya to head the Defense docket.
Narok County Governor Patrick Ntutu in a brief released to various local media houses said the nomination was a testament of the confidence the President has in her capabilities, reflecting her credentials as a highly qualified leader who has ascended through the ranks on merit.
Governor Ntutu noted that the CS nominee has served Narok County as their Women Representative for ten years where she performed her duties with diligence.
“The people of Narok and the Maa community at large take immense pride in her achievements as our daughter, as she continues to serve the nation with distinction,” read the presser.
About 40,000 needy students in Ruiru constituency will receive Sh90 million bursaries from the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF)
The initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden on parents struggling to pay school fees due to the prevailing hard economic times, being experienced in the country.
Area MP Simon King’ara revealed that the initial Sh80 million bursary allocation was inadequate due to high demand from applicants across the eight Ruiru wards.
He cited the constituency’s high population, exceeding 700,000 residents, as a key factor contributing to the increased need for educational support.
Acknowledging the plight of cash-strapped families, King’ara stated, “We usually receive overwhelming numbers of applicants and we are forced to write to the NG-CDF board to allow us to spend extra funds on bursaries as we try to help all applicants.”
A section of Baringo residents have received President William Ruto’s second batch of cabinet secretary appointments with mixed reactions.
According to the residents who spoke to the press in Kabarnet town, they are still optimistic that the president will fill the remaining slots with an individual from the county.
Baringo Central Supkem chairperson Yassin Hamisi urged President Ruto to consider retaining the slot which was previously being held by former cooperatives Cabinet Secretary Simon Chelugui who hails from the county.
“Anybody from Baringo he will appoint in the remaining slots we shall appreciate very much,” he said.
Turkana County Government has announced that approximately 130 learners with disabilities have been earmarked to benefit from the County Government bursary and scholarship funds in the 2024-2025 financial year.
The initiative, aimed at fostering inclusivity and self-reliance among PWDs, was disclosed during an open forum involving county officials, the National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD), and the disability community at Lodwar Primary.
The County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Education, Sports and Social Protection Elizabeth Loote emphasized the county’s commitment to enhancing educational opportunities for PWDs as an empowerment strategy envisioned by Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai.
