Former Government Spokesman Lt. Col. (rtd) Cyrus Oguna yesterday handed over the docket at his former Telposta office to Isaac Mwaura, who was appointed to the new docket a fortnight ago.

Mwaura was accompanied by his two deputies, Mwanaisha Chidzuga and Gabriel Muthuma.

Kenya has been urged to invest in training and retooling ICT professionals to combat emerging cyber security threats. The country has seen a sharp increase in attacks, from Sh7.7 million in 2018 to 444 million in 2023, ranking it among the top three targeted countries in Africa. Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) Kenya Chapter President Mercy Omolo emphasised the need for investment in training and retooling to protect the country’s systems from cybercrime. ISACA has rolled out programmes to upskill and issue certifications to its over 1,700 members. The digitization of government services has exposed the country to cyberattacks, and the government has implemented measures to combat this, such as the development of regulations to operationalize the Computer Misuse and Cyber Crimes Act (2019). Deputy Auditor General Isack Kamau emphasised the need for effective governance, risk, and compliance tools, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), to enhance service delivery efficiency.

With the meeting, the leaders said there is hope that the stalled roads in the county will now continue as the contractors will be on site and their completion finalized.

The signing of the deal starting with the export of at least 700 tonnes of coffee is a milestone in restoring dignity to the farmer.
