Public Health and Professional Standards Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni has emphasised the importance of routine screening for early disease detection. She noted that routine screening is one of the most effective ways to reduce deaths from non-communicable illnesses. The PS urged Kenyans to utilize the screening services available at public health facilities. She said regular and continuous screening saves lives. Diseases like cancer can be treated successfully if detected early and that prevention and early intervention are more effective and less costly than late treatment.
It was a joyous festive season for Othaya constituency residents as area Member of Parliament Wambugu Wainaina generously gifted them with edibles and investment initiatives. Thousands of locals received assorted foodstuffs for Christmas last week with hundreds of others getting month-old chicks for economic empowerment. Last week, the MP met and handed over the foodstuffs while yesterday, he sent his team, led by Macharia Joel. The MP took the opportunity to highlight some of the projects that the Kenya Kwanza administration has initiated in the constituency as he drummed up support for a second term of President William Ruto. Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife, Ms. Rebecca Miano, rallied Kenyans to continue supporting the government in order to realise meaningful development.
She noted that the government was committed to the improvement of road infrastructure to ease transport, adding that rural electrification, among other projects, was underway to help uplift the living standards of local people.

Former nominated senator Millicent Omanga has called on youth in Kisii to respect the elderly and avoid associating them with witchcraft. Omanga described the elderly as beacons of wisdom in society. She made the remarks over the weekend during a ceremony in Mayata Village, Getare Sub-location, Kiamokama Ward, Nyaribari Masaba Constituency, Kisii County, held in honour of 105-year-old widow Mama Agnes Moraa Ombaki. Omanga, a granddaughter of Mama Agnes, described her grandmother’s long life as a blessing not only to the family but also to the wider community.
Kisumu Governor Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o watches a programmed robot trace a black line using light sensors at Kiwimbi Library in Amagoro, Teso North Sub-County last weekend. The facility offers community-based training in digital skills, including robotics and artificial intelligence, under the Kiwimbi Organisation founded by Prof. Olubayi Olubayi.

To support effective adoption, the State Department, in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the European Union (EU), conducted a comprehensive capacity-building programme targeting officers nationwide. The programme equipped officers with practical skills to operate and process transactions on the NSDM platform. Training sessions were held in Malindi, Isiolo, Uasin Gishu, Nakuru, Kisumu, Kajiado, Makueni, and Embu, bringing together counties within each region to promote harmonized learning and peer collaboration.
