Department of Irrigation Principal Secretary Ephantus Kimotho was paid a courtesy call by the incoming Country Director for KFW Ms Krostina Laarman and the outing Country Director Mr. Oskar von Maltzan at his office.
The Department is implementing several programmes under financial cooperation with the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany, through KfW among them; the Smallholder Irrigation Programme for Mt Kenya Region (SIPMK) Phases I-IV, the Drought Resilience Programme in Northern Kenya (DRPNK)- Turkana and Marsabit counties and the Lower Nzoia Irrigation Programme (LNIP)- in partnership with World Bank Financing Locally Coordinated Climate Action (FLoCCA).
Kimotho acknowledged and appreciated the fruitful collaborations engineered by the outgoing Country Director Oskar von Maltzan during his five years tenure and Welcomed Ms Krostina while calling on more fruitful partnerships.
Th outgoing and incoming Country Directors appreciated the privileges of participating in such programs that are geared towards improving the irrigation sector while directly impacting farmers for a better livelihood.

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has said that the government has not signed any agreements with Adani Airports Holdings Limited over upgrading the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) infrastructure. In a paid up press statement, Mudavadi said the proposal by Adani Holdings is currently undergoing due process including reviews and negotiations. He said this is in compliance with the Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) Act & insists that the country’s interests would come first in the deal. He further insisted that the proposed expansion and modernization of JKIA will be done in strict observance of the Constitution and legal frameworks established by the PPP Act.
Kenya’s Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) has closed a section of the 57.1-kilometre Kasoiyo-Tenges-Saos-Eldama Ravine road following a landslide in the Borowonin area of Baringo County.
The closure will allow a contractor to assess the damage and repair the affected points before it is certified for public use.
KeRRA will collaborate with security personnel to direct vehicles at the two entry points of the road, Kasoiyo in Baringo Central and Saos in Koibatek Sub-counties.
The road is a crucial infrastructure linking Eldama Ravine and Kabarnet, the county headquarters. Eng. Felix Kimaiyo, Baringo Deputy Governor, praised KeRRA and other stakeholders for their prompt response to the natural disaster.
