The Lower Eastern government has assured Lower Eastern residents that Thwake Multi-purpose Dam will be completed as scheduled, despite delays caused by payment processing. The project, now at 86% completion, is on track and will be paid in the next week. The government has also encouraged local leaders to supplement government efforts in ensuring the dam’s completion on time, despite potential negative impacts from divisive politics.
Public in Garissa County, particularly along the River Tana, has been urged to move to higher ground and follow flood alerts due to expected El Nino rains. County Commissioner Solomon Chesut emphasized the government’s commitment to preventing loss of lives, property destruction, and water-borne diseases. The government has mobilized resources and logistics to respond efficiently in an emergency.

The Beyond Zero Initiative is providing free menstrual hygiene kits to 2004 West Pokot County girls. The kits, which include sanitary towels, soap, and petroleum jelly, will be distributed to ten primary schools in Pokot North Sub County. Ruto will also commission Koru-College Road, Lake Basin Mall, MV Uhuru II, and Kisumu Last Mile water projects. In Homa Bay, Ruto will commission Mfangano Ring Road, Sindo-Magunga Road, Homa Bay Pier, and Oyugis Water Project. Ruto will also commission a last-mile water project in Kuria East, launch affordable housing projects, and meet sugarcane farmers. He will also attend a Thanksgiving ceremony for Gem Member of Parliament Elisha Odhiambo in Siaya County.
