Governor Mutahi Kahiga Has Supported The Initiative Fronted By Two Private Firms And Which Will See Learners Trained On Latest Digital Skills

There are plans to equip students in Nyeri county schools with coding skills that will enable them to be more competent with the digital economy.
The initiative being spearheaded by two private entities will see the students trained latest digital skills.
The organizations spearheading the move are Kodris Africa and Commonwealth Business Women Africa Kenya Chapter.
Yesterday, representatives from the two firms had a consultative meeting with Nyeri Governor Mwalimu Mutahi Kahiga and some of senior officials in the concerned departments where they explored areas of cooperation in the initiative.
The Kodris Africa team was led by its chairman Mwaniki Munuhe and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mugumo Munene, while the other firm was led by the chairman Pauline Warui.
The meeting focused on plans to equip students in the county schools with coding skills through the utilization of Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) approved content.
Governor Kahiga expressed his unwavering support for the initiative.
“This is a great innovation and it is something we need to have done yesterday. Our children need this to be competent drivers of the digital economy. I fully endorse it. We will collaborate with all stakeholders from the Ministry of Education and the entire political leadership within the county to guarantee that our children acquire these valuable skills. We must stay ahead of the game,” he said, adding “Our children are talented and deserve the best opportunities to learn and grow. By supporting initiatives like this, we are equipping them with the skills they need to thrive in the 21st century.”
The governor further highlighted the potential of remote opportunities, citing a call centre in Nyeri that serves customers in the United States of America and the exceptional talent pool it has discovered locally.
“Our young people can learn skills that enable them to serve the world remotely,” the governor emphasized, commending the initiative as “an excellent undertaking.”
