Nyeri County governor Mwalimu Mutahi Kahiga distributing relief supplies in Kieni constituency.

In response to the ongoing drought in Nyeri County Governor Mutahi Kahiga yesterday distributed relief food to residents of Kieni at Karemeno Health Centre and Kaaga Chief’s Camp.
The 32,000 tonnes of relief supplies has been donated from the Office of the First Lady Rachel Ruto.
Over 5,000 people are set to benefit from these consignments which consist of maize flour, rice, beans, and porridge flour to be disbursed to primary schools.
“I would like to thank Mama Rachel Ruto for the donation, which will go towards rescuing residents of Kieni from the ravages of the ongoing drought,” noted Governor Kahiga.
The County Government of Nyeri through the Nyeri County Relief Coordination Committee has on the onset set aside Sh11 Million and the tender of disbursing the food is in the process.
Julius Tinega from the Office of the First Lady noted that the donations is part of a string of mitigations that the National Government has put together with other development partners to cushion the effects of the ongoing drought.
The Governor also issued a clarion call to friends of goodwill, to join in supporting needy brothers and sisters hard hit by famine in Nyeri County. Donations can be in kind or financial.
