Nyeri County Senator Wahome Wamatinga addressing Kiandu Baptist Church faithful last Sunday
By Paul Wanjiru
Nyeri Senator Wahome Wamatinga has expressed support for the creation of an official Opposition office. Wamatinga stated that the current circumstances in the nation, along with ongoing discussions with the younger generation, have encouraged leaders to rethink their approach to politics.
The Senator also praised the inclusion of opposition members in cabinet positions, saying that having ODM join the government is a positive step. He believes that this move will not only strengthen the government’s numbers but also aid in the implementation of the bottom-up economic model and introduce necessary political changes.
Speaking to journalist in Nyer , Wamatinga highlighted the importance of having Cabinet Secretaries from the opposition take on significant roles, such as managing the Finance docket.
“We recently had the new Cabinet Secretary for Finance John Mbadi mention that the rejected Finance Bill was not inherently flawed; the issue was in how it was introduced to the public,” the senator remarked.
“As we continue implementing the Kenya Kwanza manifesto, we must all recognize the importance of the prudent use of taxpayers’ money,” Wamatinga added.
This statement follows revelations by former Treasury CS Njuguna Ndung’u, who exposed significant corruption cases within the Treasury.
