ODM gubernatorial candidate Arati dismisses claims of violence witnessed in Kisii County, asks security officers to speed up to investigate

Kisii County ODM Gubernatorial candidate Simba Arati has distanced himself from claims of mobilizing protestors on 20/7/2022 event which left six police officers injured and property of unknown value destroyed.
Led by his campaign team, ODM senatorial candidate Richard Onyoka condemned the violence that occurred at the Agriculture Training Center whereby Simba Arati and other Candidates including Chris Obure and Omingo Magara were having a meeting with IEBC officers and the Kisii county commissioner.
Mr Onyonka in his statement dismissed claims pointed by incumbent Kisii Governor James Ongwae, Senator Janet Ong’era and Chris Obure , that Arati had arranged for the protest which became violent.
“It’s sad and regrettable that some of our competitors are using the incident to corrupt the minds of electorates pointing fingers on Simba.
He pointed out the outgoing Governor James Ongwae is secretly supporting the UDA gubernatorial candidate Ezekiel Machogu and also claimed that the two might have arranged for the protests which later turned into violent.
“We have seen our incumbent governor doing meetings with the UDA candidate Mr.Machogu and they have been planning violence against our team,who told you they can’t arrange for the protest and blame it on Arati,” questioned Onyonka.
He also said their campaign material are being destroyed including banners and posters something they had reported to the IEBC.
He asked opponent Obure to stop dragging the name of Cabinet Secretary Interior Dr Fred Matiang’i to Kisii politics and let him work in ensuring everyone’s security is guarded during elections.
They asked the security team to investigate the meetings between Machogu and Ongwae which led to the protest.
On 20/7/2022, Azimio team led by Ongwae,Chris Obure ,Janet Ongera and UDA candidate Ezekiel Machogu condemned the incident and throwed tantrums to Simba Arati.
